What soil is best for growing lemons?

Lemon is a fruit produced in the south of the Yangtze River. It is also called lemon fruit, citron, and motherwort fruit. It can be planted in the open field or in potted plants. It is not only edible, but also has certain ornamental value and is suitable for family cultivation.

Lemon soil

When planting lemons, you should choose acidic soil, and the most suitable soil pH is between 5.5-7.0. The soil used must have good air permeability, which is very helpful for the growth of lemons. In addition, lemons are afraid of waterlogging, and the soil used should not be too sticky, otherwise it will not be conducive to its root growth and will also have certain obstacles to its later growth.

Lemon soil preparation method

1. Leaf mold + garden soil + river sand: The soil for lemon can be made by mixing leaf mold, garden soil and river sand in a ratio of 5:3:2. This kind of soil is not only loose and breathable, but also has sufficient nutrients and is slightly acidic, which is very suitable for the growth of lemon trees.

2. Peat soil + leaf mold + sandy soil : The soil for lemons can also be mixed with peat soil, leaf mold and sandy soil in a ratio of 1:1:1. Such soil is loose and has good drainage, which is beneficial to the growth of lemons. Do not use ordinary garden soil to plant lemon trees in pots, otherwise the plants will not only have difficulty adapting to the pots, but will also grow poorly.

Lemon Soil

Remove the lemon from the pot, do not break up the mud at the roots to avoid damaging the root system. Only remove the old soil on the outside, trim off the dead roots and old roots, leaving the roots that grow vigorously and have strong absorption ability. Then fill the prepared soil into the pot, then straighten the lemon tree, plant it in the center of the pot, and compact the new soil.
