How to cultivate Phoenix bamboo

How to cultivate Phoenix bamboo

Daily Management

For potted bamboo, the light exposure should be reduced in summer, and it should be placed in a ventilated and cool place outdoors. Pay attention to watering frequently to keep the soil moist. Also spray water on the leaves and sprinkle water on the ground to keep the air moist, so that the plant will be lush and green.

The high temperature and dryness in summer will cause the leaves of the bamboo to dry up. At this time, appropriate cooling should be carried out to prevent stuffiness. Place it indoors for maintenance in winter. Control the moisture of the plant, prevent excessive growth, stop fertilizing, and keep the room temperature above 10℃.

Repotting and fertilizing

During the growth period of Phoenix Bamboo, it needs to be fertilized once every 20 days. When applying fertilizer, use decomposed and diluted bean cake water or liquid fertilizer. The temperature is low in winter and the plants go dormant, so you should stop fertilizing and just maintain daily care.

The pot of Phoenix bamboo can be repotted once every two years. Potted bamboo should be mixed with leaf mold, garden soil and a small amount of suitable ingredients.

Reproduction method

Phoenix bamboo can be propagated by division or seeds. Propagation by division can be carried out in early spring. Pour the densely growing plants out of the soil, cut the rhizomes with a knife, and plant them in pots.

Seed propagation should be carried out in April and May each year, and the seeds should be soaked in warm water for about 2 days before sowing. The seeds will germinate about one and a half months after sowing. The seedlings grow slowly and can be cultivated in half a year.
