How to plant Chinese cabbage seeds

Chinese cabbage seeds can generally be harvested when the seed pods turn yellow and the seeds turn brown. To reduce losses caused by seed pods bursting, they must be harvested in the early morning when there is dew. Spread agricultural film on the ground and place the seed pods on it to dry. They can be planted in summer and autumn.

Chinese cabbage seeds sowing time

The sowing time of cabbage seeds is mainly in autumn, and the sowing time of different varieties is also different. Early-maturing varieties are sown in mid-to-early August, medium-to-late-maturing varieties are sown in late August to early September, and late-maturing varieties are best sown in late August.

How to plant Chinese cabbage seeds

1. Select the seed:

When planting cabbage seeds, you should choose seeds that are free of pests and diseases and are full. However, in order to increase the germination rate of the cabbage after planting, soak the cabbage seeds in clean water for 10-15 minutes, then put them in warm water and stir and soak the seeds for 10-20 minutes before planting.

2. Soil selection:

When planting cabbage seeds, you should choose soil with good permeability, and it is best to adopt the method of digging furrows and ridges when sowing. This can not only improve the soil's ability to retain water and fertilizer, but also prevent root diseases caused by water accumulation after rain. Then spread the cabbage seeds evenly in the sowing furrow, and finally cover them with a thin layer of soil.
