Desert Rose Grafting Method

Desert Rose Grafting Method

After grafting, the Desert Rose will be more tenacious than the native Desert Rose, especially in the desert where there is severe water shortage. At this time, the grafted Desert Rose is very drought-resistant. The survival rate of the native Desert Rose is not high, so there will be grafted Desert Rose, and the grafted Desert Rose has stronger disease resistance than the native one.

Desert Rose Grafting Time

The time for grafting Desert Rose is generally in spring and autumn every year. It can also be grafted in other seasons if the temperature is suitable, but the temperature during grafting must be higher than 20℃. In addition, be careful to avoid the rainy season and its dormant period to prevent excessive humidity and low temperature from causing grafting failure.

Desert Rose Grafting Technology

1. Scion

When cutting the scion, make sure that the cutting direction is perpendicular to the direction of the branch. The cut scion will ooze juice. After washing it with clean water, cut the whole branch into a length of about 2 to 5 cm, cut the base into a tongue shape, and remove the tender buds on the top.

2. Rootstock

Cut the branches of the rootstock and insert the cut scion into them. Wrap the wound with plastic wrap or raw tape to ensure that it will not come into contact with the outside world and water will not seep in when it rains. When completed, clamp it with a rubber band or a clip to enable the grafted desert rose to grow better.
