Milan can be propagated by cuttings, and the cutting method has a high survival rate, so it is widely used. Its cuttings are mainly divided into two types. One is to use the young branches grown in the current year, and the other is to use the old stems from the previous year. Choosing branches grown in the current year has a higher survival rate.

Milan cutting time

If you use old branches for Milan cuttings, you can do it in March or April in spring. If you choose new branches of the current year, you can do it in June to August. The climate in both time periods is mild and suitable, which is conducive to the survival and rooting of the cuttings.

Milan cutting propagation method

1. Prepare the soil: Milan likes loose, fertile, well-drained sandy soil. It is recommended to use two parts of compost soil and garden soil, add one part of sand, and mix evenly as the substrate. Of course, the soil formula can also be flexibly matched.

2. Cuttings and propagation: Select 1-2 year old branches from the mother plant and cut them into 8-10 cm long pieces. Remove some leaves near the lower end, soak them in rooting agent for 20 minutes, and then insert them into the culture medium. The depth of the cuttings should be about 3-5 cm.

3. Post-care: After Milan cuttings, it should be placed in a cool and ventilated environment for maintenance. The temperature should be maintained between 25-30℃ and the relative humidity should be maintained above 90%. The cuttings will take root in about 80 days.
