The difference between millstone grass and ramie

1. Leaf Difference

The leaves of the grinding wheel grass are nearly oval or nearly circular, about 3 to 9 cm long and about 2.5 to 7 cm wide. The tip of the leaves is short and sharp, or gradually becomes pointed. The base of the leaves is heart-shaped, with irregular serrations on the edges. There are fine hairs on both sides of the leaves, and the petiole is about 2 to 4 cm long.

The leaves of Ramie are alternate, heart-shaped, about 5 to 10 cm long, with gradually sharp tips, heart-shaped bases, and finely serrated edges.

2. Flower Differences

The flowers of the grinding wheel grass are solitary in the leaf axils. The pedicel is 4 cm long and the flower diameter is 2 to 2.5 cm. The flower has 5 petals and is yellow in color.

The flowers of Ramie are solitary in the leaf axils. The pedicels are 1 to 13 cm long and covered with fine hairs. The flowers have 5 lobes, are oval in shape, and are yellow in color with obovate petals.

3. Fruit Difference

The fruit of the grinding wheel grass is round to spherical and resembles a millstone, with a diameter of about 1.5 cm, black, truncated at the tip, and a short tip.

The capsule of Abutilon is hemispherical, about 2 cm in diameter and 1.2 cm long, with a short tip at the top.
