Rose grafting time

The best time to graft roses is in spring and autumn. The temperature rises in spring and roses begin to enter a rapid growth period. At this time, the rootstock and scion are more active. The buds of the scion will sprout quickly and it is easy to graft and survive. Moreover, the scion grows relatively fast. After the grafting survives, the buds will grow branches and bloom in the same season. The best time for autumn grafting is around October. At this time, the temperature is not high, the graft is not easy to turn black, and the buds are not easy to dry out. The rose has not yet begun to hibernate, and it is the time to grow.

Rose grafting technology

1. Take the grafting buds: Before grafting the rose, you must first select healthy rose buds as the grafting material, and take out flower buds about one centimeter in size. When taking the buds, be sure to go deep into the woody part of the rose.

2. Cutting edge: Cut a trapezoidal edge on the rose rootstock, and also go deep into the wood.

3. Tie into the gap: Tie the taken out rose buds into the gap through the small holes in the plastic bag. Don’t tie it too loosely to avoid gaps so that the wound cannot heal. But don’t tie it too tightly to avoid squeezing the rose buds to death. After about a month, the rootstock and rose buds will be able to grow together.
