Cucumber seed planting method steps

Cucumber seed planting method steps

Before planting cucumber seeds, soak them for about 4 hours, then take them out and immerse them in warm water, which is conducive to sterilization and disinfection. Then take them out and put them in cold water to cool down before germination or sowing.

Cucumber seed planting conditions

1. Temperature conditions: The minimum germination temperature of cucumber seeds is 13℃, and the optimal germination temperature is 30℃. The germination rate decreases when the temperature is above 35℃. In addition, cucumbers like heat and are afraid of cold. The most suitable growth temperature is between 25-32℃.

2. Water conditions: Cucumbers like moisture, are afraid of waterlogging, and are not drought-tolerant. They require a relative water holding capacity of the soil of 85%-95%, and the relative humidity of the air should be 80% during the day and 90% at night. Sufficient water is required during the germination period, but it cannot exceed 90% of the soil moisture content to avoid root rot.

Cucumber seed planting steps

1. Planting time: Cucumber seeds are generally planted in spring from January to March, and in summer and autumn, they are generally planted in June to August. Before planting, you should choose seeds that are free of any diseases and pests.

2. Process the seeds: Before planting, soak the seeds in warm water for more than 6 hours to clean up any debris on the surface of the cucumber seeds. After soaking, wash them with clean water and dry them before planting.

3. Land preparation and shed construction: About 15 days before planting, base fertilizer should be applied to the land, and 2-3 sheds should be built on top of the cucumbers. This will help the cucumbers to safely survive the winter.

Key points for high-yield management of cucumber seeds

1. Water and fertilizer management: If you want the cucumber seeds to have a high yield, you need to apply appropriate topdressing after planting. You can apply organic fertilizer once every morning. When the cucumbers begin to bear fruit, the nutrients they need will gradually increase. At this time, you will need a lot of fertilization and watering.

2. Sunlight management: If it is grown in a greenhouse, the sunshine time should be controlled at about 8 hours. Under the condition of meeting the temperature, it is best to open the straw curtain at about 8 o'clock in the morning and cover the straw curtain at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. It is also necessary to open the straw curtain on cloudy days.

3. Weeding management: During the growth period of cucumbers, weeding is necessary. Removing weeds in time can reduce unnecessary nutrient consumption and provide sufficient nutrients for cucumbers, thereby increasing cucumber yields.
