Peach tree borer control methods and time (what to do if the peach tree trunk has a hole drilled by the worm)

The borers on peach trees are mainly peach borers, including pear borer, apple leafroller and other pests, which mainly harm the young fruits of peach trees.

After drilling into the fruit, you can usually find some gel-like substances on the surface of the fruit. If you look closely, you can also find insect holes. Such fruits lose their commercial value and are easy to fall off, causing great economic losses.

There are many ways to prevent peach borers, and always remember that prevention is better than cure. Once an infestation occurs, damage has already been done to the fruit trees, resulting in economic losses.

1. Interfere with the reproduction of borers

Hang the disorienting threads of peach borer and pear borer in peach orchards to emit high concentration of sex pheromone and interfere with the mating and reproduction of pests. Generally, more than 60 threads are hung per mu of peach orchard, and 1-2 threads are enough for each fruit tree, and the lasting effect can reach 2-3 months.

2. Fruit bagging

Bagging peach fruit can also prevent borers and many other pests and diseases, and reduce the interference of pests and diseases.

3. Insecticidal lamps to kill adult insects

By taking advantage of the habit of adult pests, that is, moths, that like light and the lure of sex pheromones, the adult pests can be lured and killed during the peak period of adult pest occurrence.

4. Ground prevention

In April and May, when mature larvae emerge from the soil, spray the ground with 600 times of 48% chlorpyrifos solution, then loosen the soil to prevent peach borer from emerging from the soil. You can also use chlorpyrifos granules to loosen the soil within 1 meter around the tree trunk to kill the emerging larvae.

5.Tree trunk spray

Choose the peak egg-laying period and spray branches and trunks with 1500 times diluted 2.2% emamectin chlorpyrifos or 1500 times diluted 5% emamectin chlorpyrifos + 5% lufenac. The main purpose is to kill eggs and prevent the damage caused by peach borer eggs after hatching.

At this time, the pests are young, sensitive to drugs, and easy to kill. It is best to spray the pesticides within 3 to 4 days each time, and spray again after 1 week.
