Can mountain roses be planted with leaf cuttings?

Can mountain roses be planted with leaf cuttings?

1. Can leaf cuttings be used?

If you want to grow it by leaf cuttings, it is very difficult to keep it alive. Only by beheading it can you increase its chances of survival. In autumn, you can choose a taller plant, cut off an appropriate part, wrap it with thread, and strangle it. Then place this part in a ventilated and cool area to dry the wound. It usually only takes two to seven days. Then plant it in relatively moist soil and wait for it to take root, which usually takes 15 to 30 days.

2. Other reproduction methods

1. You can cultivate it by division, which is very simple. Take off its small buds, place them in a windy place to dry, and then plant them in the soil. Be careful not to remove its main head, so that it can grow more buds during the growth period. It is important to propagate it by cuttings, because once it blooms, it will absorb all the nutrients and then die, so it is necessary to let it grow some side buds to prepare for the next planting.

2. If it has become lignified, just break off its side buds with your hands. You will find that the wound is still green, full of vitality and vigor. The lignification of the outer stem is just an illusion. Then let it dry and you can plant it directly.

3. If it has not yet become woody, you can break it with a sharp knife or other sharp tool, but be careful not to enlarge the wound. Also, let it dry before planting.
