When can I water the money tree after changing the soil (do I need to water it right after I planted it in the pot)

Question about how often to change the pot and soil of the money tree

The crown width of the money tree during the seedling stage is similar to that of ordinary succulents, and the pot and soil can be repotted and changed once every spring.

However, as the cultivation time gets longer, its crown will become larger and larger, and it will become a large succulent plant in the shape of a shrub. It will be more troublesome to repot it at this time. Moreover, as the woodiness of its branches becomes higher and higher, it will become more and more difficult to adapt it to the new pot after repotting.

Therefore, the money tree that has been grown into a large bonsai can be repotted every two years or so, and when repotting, try to retain some soil around the rhizomes to avoid excessive damage to the root system, which is conducive to rapid acclimatization.

In addition, during the vigorous growth period, applying some diluted water-soluble fertilizer or applying some organic fertilizers such as chicken manure and bone meal in holes according to its growth will help to make the leaves full and the plant shape beautiful.

The money tree is drought-tolerant but not waterlogged, so watering should not be too frequent:

Succulent plants are generally drought-resistant and avoid waterlogging. Frequent watering is not required. The basic principle for daily care is to water thoroughly when the soil is dry. When not exposed to the sun, water can be poured every 10 days or so during the growing season.

In summer, under the premise of proper shading and good ventilation in the breeding environment, the next watering can be done when the potting soil is basically dry and the bottom leaves are slightly wrinkled.

Water evaporates slowly in winter and the growth rate of succulent plants themselves is not fast, so it is only necessary to water them once every half a month. When the temperature drops to around 5℃, you can even stop watering completely.

For bonsai money trees grown outdoors, the watering should be adjusted according to the dryness and wetness of the potting soil, as well as the local climatic conditions and recent precipitation. It is better to keep it dry than wet, which helps prevent excessive growth and root rot, and is also good for controlling the shape and coloring.

The Money Tree is loved by flower lovers because of its beautiful meaning of "cherishing blessings and gathering wealth". It is easy to maintain and has fewer diseases and pests. If you like both succulents and old bonsai, it will meet your expectations!
