When is the best time to fertilize Clivia for flowering (fertilization during the growth period is the key)

When growing Clivia, you need to apply fertilizer in stages. What is staged fertilization?

Phased fertilization means that when we are caring for plants, we use different fertilizers to promote the growth of branches and leaves, and when the plants are in different growth stages such as bud formation and fruiting, so that each growth stage of the plants can reach the best state.

Staged fertilization is divided into the following 4 stages:

First, fertilize in spring:

After the flowers fall in spring, Clivia will immediately undergo another reproductive growth, growing leaves and small buds at the base. During this stage, fertilization mainly supplements nitrogen fertilizer to promote leaf growth and hidden bud growth.

When fertilizing in spring, urea is applied twice. Dilute urea with water about 600 times and water it thoroughly on the flower soil. Urea can be used twice, with an interval of about 15 days between each application.

Second, daily fertilization:

Daily fertilization depends on the temperature because the climate in each place is different. When the temperature is kept in the suitable growth range of Clivia, about 18 to 28 degrees Celsius, organic fertilizer can be applied once a month.

Organic fertilizer has a long-lasting effect and mild fertilizer properties. It also contains the three elements of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium required for the growth of Clivia. It also promotes the growth of leaves and roots.

Third, fertilization during the bud formation period:

Clivia blooms from New Year's Day to Lantern Festival, but its bud formation period is mostly in autumn.

When the temperature drops below 28 degrees Celsius in autumn, you should increase the light exposure time of Clivia, maintain 3 to 5 hours of light per day, and apply fertilizer with a focus on phosphorus and potassium.

It is recommended to dilute "potassium dihydrogen phosphate" with 1200 times water and spray it on the leaves. More phosphorus and potassium elements can promote the flowering of Clivia.

Fourth, fertilization during the awakening period:

In winter and summer, Clivia will go dormant when the temperature is below 15 degrees Celsius, and will enter a semi-dormant state when the temperature exceeds 32 degrees Celsius in summer. It will take about a week for the temperature to be between 16 and 28 degrees Celsius for it to wake up from dormancy.

The temperature in many places is just near the critical point, and Clivia cannot wake up and enter the growth period. At this time, we can use "gibberellic acid" diluted with 800 times water to spray the leaves.

Gibberellic acid can increase the cell activity of plants and awaken Clivia at the critical temperature.
