What to do if the roots of Begonia sempervivum are rotten

What to do if the roots of Begonia sempervivum are rotten

1. Breathable

We need to fully understand the environment it needs, especially the flower soil, because it will affect the growth of the roots. If the flower soil is not suitable and causes root rot, the flower soil must be replaced in time.

Generally speaking, we need to give it breathable flower soil, so if the flower soil is not breathable, we can replace it with nutrient soil or rotted leaf soil. In addition, if you live near a river, you can use some sandy river soil, or we can mix the three, so that its roots will grow better. Of course, we should also pay attention to loosening the soil frequently so that there will be no problems with its roots.

2. Fertilizer

If too much fertilizer is used, it will also affect it because there will be more nutrients left over, which will cause its roots to burn and its leaves to wither. So the idea that the more fertilizer you give it, the better is completely wrong.

If its roots rot for this reason, we need to change the soil or take measures to dilute it.

3. Water accumulation

Too much water is also a major factor affecting root growth, especially this type of plant is not so fond of water, so we need to control the amount. During the watering process, we must also pay attention not to pour water directly into dry soil. In addition, we also need to pay attention to the fact that the amount of water is actually closely related to the temperature. Generally, when the temperature is higher, we can give more water, and we can also take additional measures to spray some on the leaves. When the temperature is lower, we cannot give it too much water, otherwise the roots will definitely be damaged if water accumulates.

If this is the reason, we have to find a way to get rid of the water. If there is really no way to get rid of it, then change the pot.

4. Retraining

If it can be saved directly, we will save it directly. If not, we must deal with the rotten roots. Of course, we must control the strength during the pruning process and must not cause new injuries due to our own negligence. After that, we can soak it in potassium permanganate and wash it with pure water, then put it in a windy place, and finally we will transplant it into a new pot.

Assuming that its roots are severely damaged, we need to cut off its relatively intact rhizomes and let it rest in rooting water to regrow.
