How to grow cactus to make it look good (the whole process of cultivating and growing cactus)

How to prepare soil for cactus care

Cactus plants really have no requirements for soil. You can imagine that they can grow in the desert and they can grow in any kind of soil.

Having said that, you still need to pay attention to the soil of the cactus, because the cactus is afraid of waterlogging, so the soil must be permeable and breathable.

You can mix a small amount of garden soil with sand, or use a soilless substrate such as vermiculite, as long as it is breathable and water-permeable.

Cactus is not cold-resistant, so be careful in winter

Cactus is a tropical plant that is afraid of cold. The most suitable growth temperature is 20-30 degrees. When the temperature is particularly high in summer, it can be properly shaded when it is maintained outdoors. The temperature in winter cannot be lower than 5 degrees. After winter, it should be brought indoors in time to keep warm.

Water the cactus less

Cactus can store water by itself and is afraid of waterlogging. Excessive watering can easily cause root rot.

Therefore, it is not advisable to water the cactus too much. Wait until the soil in the pot is dry before watering it. After watering thoroughly once, you don’t need to water it for a long time. Even if it is short of water for a long time, it will not cause too much problem.

In winter, when the weather is cold, you need to water less and just keep the soil in the pot slightly dry.

Cactus should be fertilized with thin fertilizer

Cactus is very resistant to barrenness and does not require much fertilizer. It can be fertilized with a dilute fertilizer solution once every half a month to 20 days.

Fertilization should be stopped before winter. If too much fertilizer is applied, the cactus will grow too fast, and the new tissue will have poor cold resistance and be easily frostbitten.

How to care for and cultivate cactus to make it bloom

Cactus can bloom, but it is not easy to bloom. If you want to make cactus bloom, you must first take care of it for a sufficient period of time. Generally, cactus can bloom after 3-4 years of maintenance, when the diameter is more than 8 cm.

In addition, the cactus needs sufficient light to bloom. If the cactus does not see the sun for a long time, it will not bloom. Another point is that the temperature is also critical. The cactus can only bloom at a temperature above 20 degrees.
