Poria cocos usually grows in areas with an altitude of 300 to 800 meters, and is suitable for growing on sunny slopes below 35 degrees and in yellow sand acidic soil. The suitable temperature for the development of its hyphae and the formation of sclerotia is 24 to 28 degrees, and the soil moisture after planting is preferably 50%. Poria cocos has the ability to grow naturally and can grow around pine trees.

Poria cocos often grows at the roots of pine trees. It is a parasitic fungus that can be collected every summer. After being collected, the sand is washed off and piled together to sweat. The sweating is repeated many times until its skin shrinks. Then different parts are cut into blocks or slices, which are called Poria cocos blocks or Poria cocos slices for use.

Where does Poria cocos grow?

Poria cocos prefers warm, sunny and dry places, and avoids north wind. It is most widely distributed in pine forests at an altitude of about 700 meters. The temperature should be between 10 and 35 degrees. When the temperature drops to 5°C or rises to above 25°C, the mycelium grows poorly.

Poria cocos is suitable for growing in sandy soil with good drainage, loose ventilation, more sand and less mud. The most suitable soil layer is 50 to 80 cm thick, loose on top and solid on the bottom, with a water content of 25%, and slightly acidic with a pH of 5 to 6. Alkaline soil should be avoided.

Poria cocos is mainly produced in Anhui, Hubei, Henan and Yunnan. It is also produced in Guizhou, Sichuan, Guangxi, Fujian, Hunan, Zhejiang, Hebei and other places. The quality of products in Yunnan is better, and the output in Anhui and Hubei is relatively large .
