When is the best time to transplant daylily (transplanting time and method of daylily)

Daylilies are growing vigorously, and it is satisfying to see new flower stalks thrown out every month. As daylilies grow, their roots become crowded and compete for limited nutrients and water in the soil. Only transplanting will help them grow more vigorously.

Daylily transplanting time

Daylily transplanting time is divided into two seasons: autumn and spring. The temperature is suitable in these two seasons and the survival rate is high. Autumn planting is from late September to mid-October , and spring planting is from mid-to-late April to early May . For cold-resistant varieties in Northeast China, spring is generally from late April to early June , and autumn can be carried out before freezing.

Daylily transplanting method

1. Key points before transplanting

Before transplanting, you should first divide the plants , and choose plants with many flowers, good quality, and more tillers in 15-20 days. Dig out all or part of them with roots, separate them from the shortened stems according to the tillering nodes, and shorten the roots appropriately for transplanting.

2. Transplanting method

Generally, wide and narrow row cultivation method is adopted for transplanting, 3-4 plants per hole is appropriate. Pay attention to the depth when transplanting, generally 15-17 cm is better. Too deep will slow tillering, too shallow will result in small and weak seedlings, and low yield.

Management of daylily after transplanting

1. Watering and fertilizing

If the soil is too dry, it is necessary to water it in time . Daylily seedlings are not tolerant to waterlogging. In rainy seasons, it is also necessary to drain the water in the fields in time.

Fertilization should ensure sufficient nutrition to facilitate plant growth, with a ratio of N:P:K = 1:0.6:0.85. When fertilizing, pay attention to avoid partial nitrogen fertilizer , so as not to cause the leaves to be too tender and serious diseases.

2. Intertillage and weeding

Loosen the soil and remove weeds to increase ground temperature and promote early emergence of seedlings. After the seedlings emerge, hoe the soil before applying fertilizer , hoe the soil when it is compacted, and hoe it immediately when there are many weeds. Keep the soil loose and free of weeds at all times.

3. Bao Lei

Dilute 1% 2,4-D stock solution 6000 times and spray the plants all over. Alternatively, spray with 30×10 mg/kg "BA" growth hormone after the first flower opens, and then spray once every 7-8 days, for a total of 2-3 times .
