Cultivation methods and precautions of Gloxinia

Cultivation methods and precautions of Gloxinia

1. Temperature

The temperature suitable for its growth is different in different seasons. The temperature should be controlled at 18-25℃ from January to October, and the temperature should be controlled at 10-12℃ from October to January of the following year. The lowest temperature in winter should not be lower than 8℃. When the temperature is right, its flowers will be brighter and its leaves will be more lush.

2. Lighting

It likes a warm and semi-shady environment. During its growth period, it should be avoided from direct sunlight in summer. It can be placed in a place with scattered light and adjusted appropriately according to weather conditions.

3. Watering

Water in moderation, avoid too dry or too wet, otherwise the leaves will turn yellow. In the summer when the temperature is relatively high, you should increase the amount of watering appropriately, watering 1-2 times a day, and spray water appropriately to increase the humidity of the breeding environment. In winter, keep the soil in the pot as dry as possible and not too moist. Be careful not to let it get wet in the rain while it's blooming.

4. Fertilization

After the leaves expand and before flowering, apply a thin layer of decomposed cake fertilizer water about once every half a month. After the flower buds are formed, add phosphorus fertilizer. When applying fertilizer, try not to get it on the leaves. After fertilizing, you can spray some water to clean the leaves, and wipe them dry to prevent rotting.

5. Notes

Common diseases of Gloxinia include blight nematode disease, rot and gray mold. After being attacked, the diseased plants should be cleaned up and burned in time, and then appropriate pesticides should be sprayed to control them.
