Methods and steps for growing spinach on the balcony What should you pay attention to when growing spinach on the balcony

Many vegetables are ripe in spring. They are delicious and nutritious. For example, spinach is a very nutritious vegetable. Both adults and children can eat more of it. It is delicious whether stir-fried or made into soup.

Although spinach is not very expensive, it is still an expense to buy it frequently, so it is a very good choice to grow it on the balcony. You can pick it when you want to eat it, and it is easy to survive. Spinach tolerates short-day light and has a short growth cycle, which is very suitable for the balcony environment.

Steps to grow spinach on the balcony

1. Seeds

Before planting spinach, you need to buy some spinach seeds. The seeds need to be soaked in water because it is not easy to germinate if the seed shell is too hard. Generally, soaking them in warm water for three to five hours will be enough.

2. Soil

It is best to use sandy loam soil, because the temperature in early spring is not very warm, and this is not the best time for spinach to grow. Sandy loam soil has a relatively fast thermal conductivity, and it can be well kept warm after being exposed to the sun, thereby raising the ambient temperature of the seeds and germinating quickly.

3. Planting seeds

Sowing is very simple, just sprinkle the seeds into the pot soil and cover with a thin layer of soil . If the temperature is not very warm at the time, you can cover it with a layer of plastic wrap, which will keep it warm in the sun. If you maintain proper water and fertilizer, you can eat delicious spinach in one or two months.

Tips for growing spinach on the balcony

1. Moisture

Spinach needs sufficient water during its growing period . It is not tolerant to waterlogging or drought, so when watering, keep the soil moist, not too dry or too wet. You can spray it with a spray bottle.

2. Thinning

When spinach grows three to five leaves, it needs to be thinned out , removing the small and weak seedlings and leaving the larger and stronger seedlings. This way, the remaining seedlings will have enough nutrients.

3. Temperature

Spinach is not resistant to high temperatures, but is relatively cold-resistant. It is best to keep the temperature between fifteen and twenty-five degrees to grow better. It can also grow when the temperature is low, but the growth is slower. It can safely survive the winter at minus ten degrees.
