When is the best season to plant hibiscus?

There are no restrictions on the time of cuttings for hibiscus, and cuttings can survive all year round . Spring and autumn are two good times for cuttings, and spring is the best time. The survival rate of cuttings in spring is high, the temperature is relatively suitable, the precipitation is moderate, and it is just in the growth momentum.

In addition, if you want to do cuttings indoors, you can choose around March. If you want to do cuttings outdoors, it is best to do it around April.

Hibiscus cutting method and steps

Step 1: Select cuttings

It is recommended to choose relatively mature and strong branches that have grown for 1-2 years as cuttings for hibiscus cuttings. Young branches have high water content and the bottom is easy to rot after cuttings, so it is generally not recommended to choose them.

Step 2: Add soil

Before cuttings, use a thin wooden stick to poke a small hole in the cutting base, and insert the cutting into the small hole. The depth should not exceed half the length of the cutting.

Step 3: Compact and water

Gently press the substrate around the cuttings to make them stand upright and fixed. Then water them thoroughly at once and place them in a cool and ventilated place for maintenance.

How to root hibiscus cuttings quickly

1. When taking cuttings, you cannot use sticky and non-breathable substrates. You must ensure good air permeability and water permeability. Plain sand, vermiculite, etc. can be given priority.

2. After cutting, you should pay more attention to maintenance and management. Don't keep it under strong light at the beginning. You should first let it grow slowly under diffuse light. After the growth is stable and adapted, gradually expose it to light for maintenance. In this way, the hibiscus will take root quickly.
