What is the cutting method of Schefflera oleifera? In which season is the cutting survival rate high?

Schefflera is a common plant for family viewing. It is not only beautiful in appearance, but also has the function of purifying the air, and is deeply loved by people. Schefflera can be propagated by cuttings. Select healthy branches, insert them into clean river sand, wait for them to take root, and then transplant them to get new Schefflera plants.

Cutting time of Schefflera

The time for cutting Schefflera should be in spring and early autumn , when the weather temperature is relatively high, which can easily accelerate the growth of the roots of Schefflera after cutting. Note that during this period, you should try to avoid the high temperature in summer and place it in a ventilated and cool place for cultivation.

Steps for cuttings of Schefflera chinensis branches

1. Prepare the soil

The cutting medium of Schefflera arborvitae is required to have good air permeability and drainage. Prepare some river sand, clean it, add some perlite and mix evenly as the culture soil.

2. Choose cuttings

On the Schefflera chinensis plants that are growing well, select branches that have grown for 1-2 years. The best ones are strong, disease-free and insect-free branches that have not sprouted. Use sterilized scissors to cut 15-25 cm, cut off the leaves of the branches, and leave only 1-2 tender leaves at the top.

Cut the bottom of the branch into a 45° angle, soak it in the rooting water solution for about 30 minutes, take it out and place it in a cool place to dry.

3. Cuttings

Prepare a suitable flower pot, put a tile at the bottom, and fill it with culture soil. Insert the Schefflera branches into the culture soil, about 1/2 or 2/3 of the branches, and place it in a place with weak light indoors for maintenance.

During this period, the temperature should be controlled at 20-25℃, and water should be sprayed regularly to keep the soil moist. On sunny days, water should be sprayed once a day. It will take 30-45 days for the plant to take root and survive.
