Hydrangea's growing environment and growing conditions

Hydrangea Growth Environment and Conditions

Hydrangeas are generally wild or cultivated, distributed in valley streams or sparse forests on mountain tops at an altitude of 380-1700 meters. They are produced in Shandong, Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang, Fujian, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong and their coastal islands, Guangxi, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan and other provinces and regions in China, and are also distributed in Japan and North Korea.

Hydrangea Growing Conditions

Hydrangea likes a humid environment, but is not tolerant to waterlogging. Control watering on cloudy and rainy days to prevent root rot caused by waterlogging. The soil needs to be kept slightly dry in winter so that it can survive the winter better. It is suitable for planting in loose, fertile, organic-rich soil.

Hydrangea Growth Temperature

The suitable growth temperature for hydrangea is between 18-28 degrees. It is not cold-resistant and the winter temperature must not be lower than 5 degrees. Flower bud differentiation requires 6-8 weeks at 5-7 degrees. Temperatures around 20 degrees can promote flowering. Maintaining 16 degrees after flowering can prolong the flowering period, but the flowers will wither quickly under high temperatures.

The growth process of hydrangea

Hydrangea is suitable for division in early spring. Separate the rooted branches and plant them in potted plants. Do not water them too much and keep them in semi-shaded place. New buds will sprout soon, and then new leaves will grow. Under the sunlight, flower buds will grow, and then they will bloom. After the flowering period, the flowers will slowly wither.

When and how to plant hydrangeas

The best time to plant hydrangeas is in spring and autumn, specifically from March to May in spring, and from July to August in autumn, so that the survival rate will be higher.

The best maintenance temperature for hydrangeas is between 18 and 28 degrees. The temperature in winter should be above 5 degrees. The soil can be prepared by mixing leaf mold, river sand and cake fertilizer. Water every 2 to 3 days to keep the soil moist. Fertilize once every 15 days to supplement nutrients. Also, take appropriate measures to control diseases and pests, and carry out branch cuttings, which will take root in half a month.
