What fertilizer is good for foliage plants? What fertilizer is mainly used for foliage plants?

When we grow flowers at home, we plant them in pots. After a period of time, the soil will lack nutrients, the plants will grow slowly, and the flowering will weaken. This requires regular fertilization of flowers at home. What kind of fertilizer can make foliage plants grow well?

What fertilizer is good for foliage plants?

It is best to use compound fertilizer for foliage plants, which can make the plants grow better and also increase the growth rate of the plants. Generally, after the foliage plants are mature, more nitrogen fertilizer should be applied, but be sure to be careful not to apply chemical fertilizer on the leaves to avoid burning the leaves.

Most foliage plants are shade-tolerant, such as lucky bamboo and money tree. They mainly use nitrogen fertilizer, so be sure to include it when choosing fertilizer.

At the same time, when fertilizing foliage plants, pay attention to the plant's growth cycle, dormancy period, soil fertility, etc., and determine the amount of fertilizer based on these conditions.

What fertilizer to use for foliage plants

1. Soybean and Peanut

The seeds of all oil crops can be used as fertilizer for foliage plants. Some flower lovers often have some moldy beans at home. Don't throw away these moldy ones, as it is a waste.

To make your own fertilizer at home, first dry them, grind them into powder or small particles, put them into a large oil drum, seal it, and ferment it in the sun. It usually ferments for a month in the summer and can be used for another two to three months in another season.

2. Bean cake and peanut cake

The remaining bean cakes can be used as fertilizer. We can thoroughly wet the bean cakes, seal them in a container, and ferment them. Usually, they can be used after two to three months of fermentation. This fertilizer can ensure the rapid growth of foliage plants.

3. Nitrogen Fertilizer

As we all know, plants need nitrogen to grow leaves, so we can buy fertilizers. However, since self-fermentation is time-consuming and produces a bad smell during the fermentation process, it can only be used in an open-air environment.

4. Organic fertilizer

Some flower lovers said that I have some manure at home, such as chicken manure, cow manure, pig manure, and sheep manure. These are all organic fertilizers. If you want to use them, you must completely ferment them. Its main function is to improve the soil, and its own nutrient content is relatively low.

But we must remember that chicken manure now contains a lot of nitrogen, so when we go to the pig farm or the chicken farm, there will be a strong smell of ammonia after entering. That is the smell of urea, which means it has a high nitrogen content. It is also a fertilizer that promotes foliar growth, but it must be fermented well when used and cannot be used in excess.

Since chicken manure is now artificially raised and fed with grains, the nitrogen content in the manure is very high. If it is not fermented, it will easily burn the roots. If it is fermented well, it will also burn the roots if used in excess.

Ordinary cow dung is a kind of multi-element fertilizer with a balance of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. It has moderate fertility after fermentation and can be used to improve the soil and is a good soil mix.
