How to plant ginger in pots when it sprouts How to plant ginger in pots when it sprouts

Ginger is a common condiment in dishes, but generally only a little bit is used each time, so if you buy too much, it will easily sprout. At this time, you can plant the sprouted ginger in the soil, which will not only avoid waste, but also grow more ginger.

After the ginger sprouts, you can use it as a potted plant again. With such simple planting, you can harvest 1 kilogram of "fresh ginger" after 5 months. The prerequisite is to maintain it well and provide a suitable growth environment for ginger.

How to plant ginger when it sprouts

1. Prepare the soil

It is best to choose relatively fertile and breathable soil for planting ginger. It can be mixed with pine needles, fine sand, and leaf mold. It is breathable and fertile, which can not only provide enough nutrients for ginger, but also prevent its root rot.

2. Planting method

Cut off the sprouting part of the ginger, bury it in the soil, expose the sprout above the soil, then water it thoroughly, cover it with a layer of plastic film, and control the temperature at around 20 degrees. Keep a certain humidity around the flowerpot, and generally new sprouts will grow in 10 days. At this time, more water will be needed, so water it frequently.

3. Planting and maintenance

Ginger likes a moist environment and needs to be watered every 2-3 days. After two months of maintenance, ginger can basically become a potted plant. At this time, you can apply thin fertilizer to accelerate the growth of ginger. When the ginger pieces are ready to be picked, we can also put some phosphorus and potassium fertilizers in the flowerpot, which can make the ginger grow bigger.
