How long does it take for Phalaenopsis to bloom?

The growth period of Phalaenopsis is relatively long. It takes about 3 years before we see it enter its peak flowering period. However, if you buy seedlings directly for sowing, you can enjoy the flowers of Phalaenopsis in 1-2 years.

Phalaenopsis flowering process

After the Phalaenopsis orchid has differentiated its flower buds, we will see flower buds popping out in its leaf axils. After seeing the flower buds, it will take at least half a month for it to slowly grow pedicels.

It takes at least 50 days from the emergence of flower stalks to successful flowering, so it takes time for Phalaenopsis to bloom from the time flower buds are seen to the time it blooms successfully. It does not mean that it will bloom as soon as the flower buds are seen.

Phalaenopsis flowering time

Phalaenopsis orchids only begin to bloom when spring arrives every year. Most Phalaenopsis orchids bloom in April and May. If they are properly cared for and the environment is suitable, the flowering period may be slightly advanced.

On the contrary, if the growing environment of the year is not suitable for it to bloom, it will enter a dormant period and will not bloom that year. At this time, you can appropriately supplement some nutrients and add some flower fertilizers. If the time is delayed too long, it will have to wait until next year to have a chance to bloom.
