Orchid is a very delicate flower. It is not an easy task to maintain orchids grown in soil, let alone orchids grown in water? If you have enough patience and have been growing orchids for a long time, why not try hydroponics and follow the six steps below! Choosing a flowerpot for hydroponic orchidsFor growing orchids in water, use a special water-based flower pot with no holes in the bottom and a double layer of mesh inside and outside. Put nutrient solution on the outer layer, put a grid inside, and then choose some expanded clay or sponge to fix the plant. Remove the orchid from the potDig up the orchid plants planted in the soil and remove rotten and old roots. If there are too many roots to implant into the inner sieve, use scissors to cut off some roots close to the bulb, and then rinse the mud and dirt on the roots with clean water. Orchid root disinfectionSoak the cleaned roots in disinfectant for 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse with clean water. Moving your orchid into a hydroponic containerPlace the orchid in the basket of the hydroponic container, divide the roots into 2-3 groups, insert them into 2-3 sieve holes, and use your hands to slightly pull the roots that have passed through the sieve holes so that the bulbs are close to the cross ribs in the center between the sieve holes. Fixed orchidHold the orchid with one hand and use the other hand to put clean expanded clay or pebbles around the plant. Secure the orchid in the center. Add nutrient solutionAfter fixing the plant, rinse the roots and stones with clean water, then put clean water in the outer pot and add nutrient solution. This completes the transplantation work. Note that orchids grown hydroponically require more nutrients, so you need to change the water frequently and replenish the nutrient solution. |
