How to root rosemary cuttings quickly The fastest way to root rosemary cuttings

The market price of rosemary potted plants is relatively expensive, and it takes a long time to propagate by sowing. You can usually choose to propagate by cuttings. Rosemary cuttings are simple to operate and have a very high survival rate. It is a common way to propagate rosemary. Choose a large rosemary plant, cut suitable branches, and wait for roots to take shape after cuttings.

1. Cutting time

Rosemary cuttings can be carried out in spring and autumn, when the climate is warm and the temperature is stable at around 20 degrees, which is also the growth period of rosemary, which is conducive to the rooting and survival of the cuttings and can take root faster.

2. Prepare the soil

Rosemary cuttings require loose, fertile soil with good drainage. You can prepare garden soil and river sand, mix them evenly in a ratio of 5:5 as culture soil. Note that the soil must be disinfected before use to prevent insect eggs from affecting the rooting speed.

3. Choose cuttings

From a 1-2 year old rosemary plant, select healthy and sturdy semi-lignified branches, cut off 8-12 cm with sterilized scissors, cut off the base leaves, retain the top 2-3 tender leaves, trim the bottom incision into an oblique surface, apply rooting powder, and place in semi-shaded place to dry.

4. Take cuttings

Prepare a flowerpot of suitable size, put some expanded clay at the bottom of the pot, fill it with culture soil, smooth the soil, poke a few holes with chopsticks, insert the cuttings into the holes, compact the surrounding soil, water it thoroughly once, place it in a shaded place for maintenance, and after the soil is dry, water it in time with an appropriate amount, and it will soon take root.
