Honeysuckle cutting method and time cutting propagation technology with high survival rate

Honeysuckle is a medicinal material that has the effect of clearing away heat and detoxifying. When honeysuckle first blooms, its color is silvery white and slowly turns yellow. A tree can have flowers of these two colors, which looks very eye-catching. Honeysuckle is often propagated by cuttings and can take root quickly.

1. Cutting time

Honeysuckle can be planted by cuttings all year round, but the survival rate is higher in spring and autumn. These two seasons are the peak growth seasons for honeysuckle, and the branches take root quickly. When cutting, pay attention to rainy weather and do not plant.

2. Cutting steps

Soil selection: Honeysuckle likes loose, breathable, fertile, and well-drained soil. You can prepare your own nutrient soil by mixing river sand, leaf mold, garden soil, and organic fertilizer. Some flower lovers buy nutrient soil directly, but before potting, a layer of small gravel needs to be laid at the bottom of the soil to facilitate drainage.

Prepare branches: Cut strong branches from the honeysuckle plant, about 12 cm in length. After cutting the branches, soak them in rooting powder for two hours to make them take root faster. After disinfection, place the branches in a cool environment and they can be grafted after the wounds heal.

Planting cuttings in pots: first put soil in the pot, then use chopsticks to drill holes in the soil. After drilling the holes, insert the prepared branches into the holes. Depending on the moisture content of the soil, spray some water appropriately to keep the soil moist.

3. Maintenance

After honeysuckle is cut, it should be placed in a semi-shaded environment. As long as the temperature is right, it will take shape in about two weeks and grow some new leaves. After the leaves grow out, you can carry out normal care. Pay attention to watering properly during the growth period. There should be no water accumulation in the potting soil. If there is rainy weather, drainage must be done well.
