What is the best time to repot azalea? (Pay attention to 4 key points)

The time to repot azalea is generally chosen in spring or autumn . It is recommended to repot it after 2 to 3 years of care. The climate in these two seasons is suitable for the growth of azalea.

Because repotting is beneficial to the root growth of azalea and the survival rate will increase. If the pot is not repotted for too long, nutrients in the soil will be lost and the growth of the roots will be inhibited, which is not conducive to the growth of azalea.

Preparations for repotting azalea

Before repotting an azalea, it is recommended to choose a suitable flowerpot according to the size of the azalea. Usually a clay pot is preferred. When using soil, it is best to use the same soil that the azalea was previously using.

If loose soil has been chosen before, you can add a small amount of rotted horse manure and bone meal to it, but before using it, soak the loose soil with water so that the azalea can grow better after repotting.

Tips for repotting azalea

1. Remove from the basin

Take the azalea out of the pot, clean the soil around the roots, and cut off all dry roots, thin roots and rotten roots. It is recommended to disinfect after root pruning to avoid infection after potting.

2. Put it in the basin

Place the azalea in the potting soil and after its roots are spread out, shake the pot appropriately before filling the soil. The purpose is to allow better contact between the roots of the azalea and the soil. After potting, water it once and then place it in semi-shade.
