Planting plan profit and prospects

The cost of growing garlic is relatively high. One acre of garlic requires 300-400 kilograms of garlic seeds. One kilogram of garlic seeds costs 2.6-3 yuan, and the cost of garlic seeds is about 1,000 yuan. Manual sowing of garlic costs about 200-300 yuan per acre, and base fertilizer costs 150-200 yuan.

How to grow garlic for high yield

1. Land preparation: Garlic has a wide adaptability to soil and can grow on general soil. However, if you want to increase the yield, you should provide fertile, loose loam with good water retention and drainage properties, and disinfect it in advance.

2. Timely sowing: The sowing period must be strictly controlled in garlic production. In the Yangtze River Basin and its southern areas, sowing is generally done in mid-to-late September. If sowing is too early, the quality of garlic will be reduced. If sowing is too late, the seedlings will be small, the tissue will be tender, and many seedlings will die during the winter.

3. Sowing method: Sow the seed petals in the soil, cover with soil about 2 cm thick, tamp it lightly with your feet, then water it thoroughly to keep the substrate moist, cover it with straw or other moisturizing materials to increase the humidity of the environment.

4. Fertilizer and water management: Garlic will consume more nutrients during its growth period, so topdressing should be applied in time to supplement nutrients to meet its growth and development needs. Garlic fertilizer and water management generally needs to be carried out 3 to 4 times, including seedling-promoting fertilizer, growth-promoting fertilizer, moss-forming fertilizer, and garlic enlargement fertilizer.
