Jasmine cutting method and time

Jasmine cutting method and time

Jasmine is loved by people for its fragrant aroma and elegant posture. There are many ways to propagate jasmine, but cuttings are highly praised for their simplicity and high survival rate. Let’s learn about the method and time of jasmine cuttings.

1. Cutting time

There is no strict time limit for jasmine cuttings , as long as the temperature is not lower than 15℃, it can be carried out. However, in order to increase the survival rate, it is best to carry out cuttings at a temperature above 20°C.

2. Branch selection

Choose branches of the current year that are moderately hard and semi-lignified. Avoid using overly tender tips as they tend to become limp and dry out. Even if the branches are slightly green, as long as they are hard enough, they are suitable for cuttings.

3. Pruning branches

Prune the selected branches to about 10 cm in length, remove the bottom leaves, keep two complete leaves on the top and cut each in half. The bottom of the branches is cut at an angle to increase the water absorption area.

4. Use rooting solution

If conditions permit, you can dilute the rooting liquid with water and soak the bottom of the branches for 2 hours, or soak them in a high concentration for half an hour to promote rooting.

5. Soil preparation and cuttings

Choose a medium with good air permeability and water permeability, such as perlite , vermiculite or clean river sand. Insert the branches into the soil 2 to 3 cm deep, water them thoroughly, and add rooting solution and carbendazim.

6. Management after cutting

Place the grafted jasmine flowers in a well-ventilated environment with diffused light. Keep the soil moist and mist 2 to 3 times a day for the first two weeks to keep the leaves and branches moist.

7. Growth observation

Under suitable conditions, jasmine cuttings will take root and begin to grow new shoots within 2 to 3 weeks. Once signs of rapid growth are observed, transplanting or fertilizing can be carried out to promote further growth.

The above are the steps and time for jasmine cutting propagation. If you do these well, the jasmine cutting process will be smoother and the survival rate will increase accordingly.
