How many seasons can edamame be planted in a year?

The planting time of edamame in different regions of the north and south will vary depending on the variety. It can be sown up to three times: the time for early cultivation is February-March, and harvested in June-July; the time for medium and late cultivation is summer planting, direct sowing in April-May, and harvested in July-August; the time for late cultivation in autumn is direct sowing in June-July, and harvested in September-October. Autumn sowing in South China can be postponed to July-August, and harvested in September-November.

Edamame Planting Conditions

The environmental requirement for growing edamame mainly lies in its temperature. The temperature of the environment in which it grows cannot be too high or too low, and it cannot be exposed to the sun for a long time, otherwise the pods and leaves will turn yellow.

The planting temperature of edamame should be appropriate. The germination temperature of edamame seeds is generally 10-11℃, and the optimum temperature for edamame stem and leaf growth and flowering is 20-25℃. If the temperature is lower than 14℃, edamame will not bloom.

There are many varieties of edamame, so you must make a good choice before planting. If you grow in the south, the edamame you plant basically has a growing period of about 100 days. The south has many rainy seasons, so the varieties you plant do not require very high light requirements.

Edamame harvest time

Edamame can be mature and harvested in about 60 to 150 days after planting. The later the sowing, the shorter the growing period. The earliest time to harvest is May or June, and then it can be put on the market directly after picking.
