White sesame planting time and method

White sesame planting time

White sesame is mainly divided into spring sesame and summer sesame. Spring sesame is sown in early to mid-April, which is 10 days after the last frost period, while summer sesame needs to be planted after the wheat harvest in early June, so that its growth rate will be slightly faster after planting.

How to plant white sesame

1. Site selection and land preparation: White sesame needs to be planted in a slightly higher, flat, deep, fertile, and well-drained plot. After selection, the land needs to be finely prepared, which is conducive to seed germination.

2. Crop rotation: White sesame has a high demand for nutrients, so it is not suitable to be planted year after year, otherwise it will produce a large number of diseases and cause a reduction in yield. However, it can be reasonably rotated with wheat, sorghum and other plants.

3. Sowing at the right time: After treating the soil, the seeds need to be mixed with pesticides, and then sowing can be carried out. The row sowing method can be adopted, and the sowing depth is about 1-2 cm. Light harrowing is required after sowing.

White sesame planting precautions

When sowing white sesame, you need to pay attention to the fact that its root system is relatively shallow, so you need to apply base fertilizer shallowly, which can increase the yield. You can apply more fertilizer appropriately. When it reaches the five-leaf stage, the initial bud stage and the peak flowering stage, you need to apply top dressing in time, and you can apply compound fertilizer.
