How to deal with potatoes after flowering

Potato post-flowering treatment

1. Remove the flowers

Even if potatoes do not bloom, they can still produce potatoes, and the yield will be higher. Therefore, after the potatoes bloom, you need to pick their flowers to reduce nutrient consumption. In addition, when picking the flowers of potatoes, try to do it in a sunny afternoon so that its wounds can recover faster.

2. Appropriate amount of fertilizer

Potatoes consume some nutrients when they bloom. After picking off their flowers, you need to fertilize them appropriately to replenish their nutrients. At this time, you can choose to spray them with common foliar fertilizers to encourage them to produce more potatoes.

3. Drink enough water

After the potatoes bloom, in addition to applying fertilizer in appropriate amounts, you also need to pay attention to watering. Generally, this can be done two days after fertilizing. At the same time, when watering, you must control the amount of water. Just keep the soil slightly moist and try to avoid water accumulation.

How to grow potatoes to bloom

Potatoes generally start to bloom around March each year, and their flowering period is usually in summer. The colors of the flowers are mostly white or blue-purple. The calyx is bell-shaped, with a diameter of about 3 cm. When potatoes bloom, they can be hybridized and cultivated, and then grafted.

1. Watering:

During the potato cultivation process, sufficient water is needed. At the same time, the inorganic elements required for its growth must be dissolved in water before they can be gradually absorbed by the roots. If the soil lacks water, no matter how much nutrients there are, the plants will not be able to use them, let alone bloom.

2. Topdressing:

During the growth process of potatoes, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be applied mainly, and compound fertilizers can also be used as a substitute. Specific adjustments should be made based on the growth of the potatoes at that time to ensure that the potatoes can bloom.
