Garlic planting time and method

Garlic planting time and method

Garlic planting time

Garlic is usually planted in spring and autumn. In the northern region, the temperature is relatively low in autumn and winter, and the seedlings cannot safely survive the winter, so it is not suitable for autumn sowing. Through the method of greenhouse seedling cultivation, it can be sown in early spring and harvested in summer. In the southern region, the temperature is relatively low and the autumn and winter are warm enough. When sowing in autumn, the seedlings can safely survive the winter in the open air, so autumn sowing is mainly used.

Garlic planting methods and key points

1. Garlic seedling cultivation

When planting garlic, it usually starts around August every year. Before planting, the garlic disc and skin of the seeds need to be removed, and then planted in soil with good permeability. Appropriate nitrogen fertilizer also needs to be applied.

2. Garlic field management

When planting garlic, its stems and leaves need to be watered several times during the growth period, but not excessively. The soil needs to be kept moist, and the amount of watering needs to be controlled before harvesting. It is also necessary to pay attention to the appropriate increase in phosphorus and potassium fertilizers.

Garlic Planting Precautions

1. Temperature

Garlic likes to grow in a cool environment. The temperature suitable for its growth is generally between -5-26℃. Garlic grown in this climate has better quality.

2. Soil and nutrition

When planting garlic, the requirements for soil and nutrients are not very strict, but it is necessary to select and loosen the breathable and well-drained soil in advance to ensure that the plant can absorb sufficient water and nutrients.
