Phalaenopsis repotting time and method

Phalaenopsis repotting time

It is recommended to repot Phalaenopsis in late spring and early summer, that is, between May and June, because the roots will not be damaged if the pot is changed at this time, and the temperature environment is very conducive to root recovery.

Phalaenopsis repotting methods and steps

1. Remove the plant from the pot : When removing the plant from the pot, first use a small shovel to draw a circle along the inner wall of the pot, or tap the outer wall of the pot gently, both of which can make the potting soil easier to separate. Then turn the pot upside down, hold the rhizome, and carefully take it out.

2. Prune the roots : first take out the plant, shake off the soil around the roots, then use clean water to clean the roots of the plant, then cut off the old and rotten roots, then use carbendazim to disinfect and sterilize, and finally dry the roots.

3. Prepare potting soil : Prepare a larger flower pot with good air permeability. The soil should also be new and soft, with good air permeability. You can use leaf mold and garden soil for the new soil. Do not use old soil.

4. Plant in the pot : Place the orchid in the middle of the prepared soil, fill the soil after the roots are stretched out, leaving no gaps, and finally gently press the soil around it and place it in a cool place.

Phalaenopsis maintenance after repotting

Do not water the Phalaenopsis immediately after repotting, because there may be wounds due to root pruning. Wait for about 2-3 days and wait for the wounds to adapt before watering again to avoid infection. Then place it in a well-lit and ventilated place.
