Does the copper coin grass bloom?

Is it blooming?

Most people regard pennywort as an ornamental foliage plant and appreciate its small and delicate leaves. But the pennywort will also bloom. It will produce small white and pink flowers. After the flowering period, it will also produce seeds. However, the flowers of the pennywort are not very ornamental, have a faint stinky smell, and will affect the foliage viewing effect to a certain extent.

Flowering period

The pennywort mainly blooms in summer, with the flowering period being in April. After flowering, it will bear fruit, with the fruiting period being in July.

Generally, the flowering period of the pennywort will last for a short period of time, but if the phosphorus element is excessive, the pennywort will bloom continuously and the flowering period will be extended. If the pennywort flowers bloom continuously, you can use some compound fertilizer containing nitrogen and potassium elements to alleviate the phenomenon of continuous flowering. In the daily maintenance of pennywort, reducing the use of fertilizers containing phosphorus will make it difficult for the pennywort to bloom.

what to do

To be honest, the ornamental value of the pennywort when it blooms is not very high. Many flower lovers have also reported that when the pennywort blooms, its leaves become smaller or even stop growing, affecting the ornamental value of the pennywort. Some flower lovers also said that the pennywort will produce seeds after flowering, and the seeds can be collected and sown for propagation. Therefore, there are generally two solutions after the pennywort blooms.

The first method is to ignore it and let it bloom. After the flowers of the pennywort fade and produce seeds, you can use the seeds to propagate it. However, it should be noted that the success rate of seed propagation of copper coin grass is lower than that of cutting propagation.

The second method is to cut off the flowers when the pennywort blooms. If you don't want to keep the seeds, just cut them off. Leaving the flowers will not only affect the ornamental effect of the pennywort, but will also cause the flowers and leaves to compete for nutrients, which is not conducive to its growth.
