Areas suitable for growing red guava

Requirements for planting red guava

Red guava is suitable for planting in warm, humid and sunny areas. With sufficient sunlight, it can bear fruit early and have good quality. It has low requirements for soil, is drought-resistant and moisture-resistant, and has no strict requirements for soil moisture. The annual rainfall should be between 1,000 and 2,000 mm.

The growing environment of red guava

1. Temperature

Red guava is native to the tropics and is not cold-resistant. At -1-2℃, young trees will die from freezing and adult trees will begin to show signs of frostbite. The average temperature of the coldest month in winter needs to be above 15℃, otherwise they will easily freeze to death. The optimal growth temperature is 23-28℃.

2. Moisture

Red guava is relatively drought-resistant and moisture-resistant. It can be cultivated in tropical and subtropical areas, whether in paddy fields, dry land or hillsides. However, during the fruit growth and development period, an appropriate amount of water is needed to obtain good quality fruit.

3. Soil

Red guava has a strong adaptability to soil, but it prefers deep, fertile, loose, and well-drained sandy soil. Guava has a strong salt resistance and can be planted at a pH value of 4.5 to 8.0. It blooms and bears fruit many times a year, has a long fruiting period and high yield. Attention should be paid to strengthening fertilization management to promote its growth.

How to plant red guava

1. Sowing time

The best time to sow red guava is from February to April. At this time, the temperature in various regions begins to rise and the air humidity is relatively high, which is most suitable for sowing. However, specific adjustments should be made according to the local climate. If the ambient temperature is low, it can be done later.

2. Sowing method

Before sowing, you must select seeds of good quality. Each seed should be plump and free of pests. Soak them in a lower concentration of gibberellin, take them out after about 12 hours, and then sow them in loose and fertile soil. After sowing, cover them with a layer of soil and water them thoroughly.

3. Maintenance methods

After the seeds begin to germinate, you need to control the amount of watering to prevent them from rotting. If there is grass in the soil, it needs to be removed in time. As it continues to grow, it also needs appropriate fertilization. Pay attention to applying thin fertilizers frequently and control the amount. During maintenance, the temperature should be maintained above 15°C as much as possible, and it will grow quickly.
