Autumn radish planting time and method

Autumn radish planting time and method

Autumn radish planting time

Autumn radish is not heat-resistant. If planted too early in high temperatures and heavy rains, improper management will reduce the germination rate and easily cause diseases and insect pests. If planted too late, the temperature will drop, which is not conducive to later growth. It is best to plant it from mid-July to mid-August.

Autumn radish planting method

1. Land preparation and fertilization

Autumn radishes grow relatively deep, so when choosing a planting site, try to choose soil that is deep, loose, and well-drained. This way, the radishes will grow faster underground. When renovating the soil, make ditches to facilitate drainage and irrigation, and then apply enough base fertilizer.

2. Sowing and seedling raising

Autumn radish can be sown directly. Make holes at certain intervals on the prepared ground. Before sowing, you can water the soil to ensure that the ground is moist, and then sow. Generally, 4-5 seeds are placed in each hole. Cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil, and sprouts will grow in about 7 days.

Precautions for planting autumn radish

1. After the autumn radish seedlings emerge, thinning should be carried out, and the more lush seedlings should be transplanted to complete the seedlings in the field. Generally, only three seedlings need to be left in a hole, and the other excess seedlings need to be pulled out. The pulled out seedlings can be eaten.

2. The weeds in the field should be removed one week after planting the autumn radish. When the radish starts to grow, the field should be tilled and weeded. This will help it grow more smoothly and have more nutrients. When the radish grows up, the grass in the field should be gently pulled out. Each weeding should be accompanied by fertilization.
