Persimmon tree planting time

Persimmon tree is a deciduous fruit tree, suitable for planting after leaf fall and before budding, that is, before mid-February, generally not exceeding the rainy season, and the planting density depends on conditions such as terrain, soil, variety, rootstock, cultivation management, etc.

How to plant persimmon trees

1. Soil conditions

Persimmon trees are deep-rooted plants with fewer fibrous roots. When planting, they need to be provided with well-drained, slightly acidic sandy loam. In addition, 1-2 months before transplanting, decomposed farmyard manure should be applied to the soil as base fertilizer to increase the organic matter content in the soil and promote vigorous growth of the persimmon tree.

2. Variety selection

There are many varieties of persimmon trees, including completely sweet persimmons and incompletely sweet persimmons. When planting persimmon trees, you need to choose varieties with larger fruit shape, stronger disease resistance and higher yield, such as Yangfeng sweet persimmon, Xingjin No. 22, Fuyou sweet persimmon, etc. Among them, Yangfeng sweet persimmon has the best quality, and Xingjin No. 22 has a higher yield.

3. Planting method

When planting a persimmon tree, you need to first dig a deep hole in the soil, then transplant the persimmon tree seedlings with soil lumps on the roots into the hole, then compact the soil with your feet, and water it once so that the roots of the persimmon tree seedlings are closely integrated with the soil to maintain normal growth of the plant.

Things to note when planting persimmon trees

After planting persimmon trees, maintenance and management should be strengthened, and nitrogen-based compound fertilizers should be applied once every month. In the mature stage of persimmon trees, before they bloom, they should be topdressed with decomposed organic fertilizers and urea to promote the differentiation of flower buds and increase their yields.
