Summer sesame planting time and method

Summer sesame planting time

It is more appropriate to sow summer sesame in late May to early June. It is a warm-loving crop, so when sowing, it is best to do so in the high temperature season, so that it will have a relatively high yield. During normal maintenance, it needs sufficient sunlight, which is more beneficial to its growth.

Summer sesame planting method

1. Land preparation and ridge making: When sowing summer sesame, the land needs to be carefully prepared. During the growing period, there is more rain, so it is necessary to make ridges, about 2-3 cm wide. After the ridge furrows, waist furrows and surrounding furrows are dug, it will be easier to irrigate.

2. Sowing: When sowing summer sesame, the general method is to scatter the seeds evenly and cover them with a thin layer of soil. This way the seedlings will emerge faster. After sowing, water them appropriately to keep the soil moist.

3. Post-sowing management: Summer sesame needs to be sprayed with pesticides in time 3 days after sowing, which can reduce the growth of weeds. In addition, thinning should be carried out regularly and the top buds should be removed to ensure good growth.

Precautions for planting summer sesame

When planting summer sesame, there must be sufficient sunlight, otherwise it will affect its growth. During normal maintenance, there must also be a good ventilation environment, because the temperature is relatively high, it is easy to produce diseases and pests. Good ventilation can reduce the occurrence of diseases and pests.
