When and how to plant bell peppers

Bell pepper planting time

Sweet peppers like a warm environment, and the suitable germination temperature is around fifteen to thirty degrees. The time for planting sweet peppers can be selected according to the temperature. Early-maturing sweet peppers can be planted from December to January each year. Secondly, they can be planted in August each year because they can be planted as long as the temperature is suitable.

How to grow bell peppers

1. Land preparation and fertilization

Sweet peppers are suitable for planting in fertile, loose, organic-rich, well-drained sandy soil. Of course, you can also choose loess or black soil. Renovate the soil in advance, apply some livestock manure, then fill in the potholes in the field, and finely level large lumps of soil, waiting for sowing.

2. Sowing and seedling raising

The seeds of sweet pepper should be soaked in warm water to germinate. The water temperature should not be higher than 50 degrees. After soaking for about a day, they can be taken out, cleaned and placed in a suitable environment for germination. Generally, they can be sown in about 3-5 days.

3. Reasonable planting

When sowing, you can moisten the soil, then spread the seeds evenly, cover them with a thin layer of soil, and finally cover them with a layer of plastic film to keep warm and moist. Seedlings will emerge in about 5 days and can be transplanted when they grow to 15 cm.

Sweet pepper planting precautions

One week after planting the sweet peppers, check the surface conditions. If there are missing or dead seedlings, promptly replant them. About 7-10 days after planting, you can carry out inter-row cultivation and weeding, and fertilize at the same time. Use manure water and add an appropriate amount of urea for watering to promote the growth of the sweet pepper seedlings.
