Soilless cultivation method of lotus bowl

Soilless cultivation method of lotus bowl

Preparation

Cultivation medium

Although bowl lotus needs to be cultivated without soil, it also needs some substrate. Because of soilless cultivation, its stability needs to be considered so that it does not float with the water.

Therefore, the substrate for its soilless cultivation is the water used, and the fine sand or gravel used to fix it. Some flower lovers also use a whole pot of lotus root to fix it during soilless cultivation, and the effect is also good.

Planting container

The choice of containers for soilless cultivation of bowl lotus is relatively free. Round or other shaped glass jars, glazed pots, purple clay pots, porcelain pots and other materials are all good choices. You can also use special hydroponic pots. This type of pot is more convenient and consists of two parts, the upper part for plants and the lower part for nutrient solution. You can also make similar containers yourself.

Nutrient solution

Bowl lotus is cultivated using soilless cultivation methods and cannot absorb nutrients from the soil, so it requires the use of nutrient solution. The nutrient solution can be prepared by yourself. You can use inorganic fertilizers to make an aqueous solution, or you can use plant nutrient solution rich in various elements. When preparing the nutrient solution yourself, you can use well water or tap water as a solvent. If you think it is too troublesome to prepare it yourself, you can go to the market to buy special nutrient solution, which is more convenient.

Soilless cultivation and management

Soilless cultivation

Because bowl lotus can be planted using seeds and lotus roots, it can also be done in soilless cultivation. When planting with seeds, you must first germinate the seeds and let them grow into seedlings, and then transplant them when the seedlings grow to about 10 cm. Using seed lotus roots is relatively simple and easier to survive.

The cultivation time can be chosen when the temperature is above 15 degrees, which is more suitable for the growth of bowl lotus. First put the substrate in the container to fix it, then put the lotus root or seedling in a horizontal position, water it, and make sure its top bud is buried in the water. There should be a 5 cm water layer between the water and the medium.

Maintenance management

The growth of bowl lotus requires an appropriate amount of nutrient solution, which should be used once a week and adjusted according to its growth conditions. As it grows, the roots will gradually grow larger. You need to adjust the amount of nutrient solution used, leave enough space for its roots to grow further, and clean the container frequently.

According to the growth habits of the bowl lotus, daily maintenance and management should be carried out, and the temperature should be maintained between 20 and 30 degrees. As for sunlight, sufficient light is needed, but avoid exposure to the sun. In addition, during its growth period, we must pay attention to the prevention and control of diseases and insect pests, and promptly discover and treat them.
