Can lantern flower be hydroponically cultivated? Hydroponics rooting method

Can lantern flower be hydroponically cultivated?

Lantern flowers can be grown hydroponically. Lantern flowers like water and will grow more vigorously in a humid environment. Hydroponically grown lantern flowers allow for more direct viewing of the root growth of the plant, making them more ornamental. Hydroponics can also quickly detect and remove rotten roots, thereby increasing the survival rate of lantern flowers.

Lantern flower hydroponic cultivation method

1. Cuttings

Choose strong lantern flower branches, preferably with tender buds on them, keep only the top leaves and cut off the rest, and make sure there are at least two buds on the branches, then cut off the others. Branches with a length of 10 cm are easiest to survive.

2. Container

The hydroponic cultivation of lantern flowers uses a glass container for better appearance. Then put a piece of foam in the container and add an appropriate amount of clean water. Poke a few small holes in the foam that are slightly larger than the cuttings. Insert the branches into the foam until they touch the water surface. The water height only needs to cover one-third of the cuttings.

3. Maintenance

When growing lantern flowers in hydroponics, they need to be placed in places with sunlight, such as windowsills, to ensure good ventilation. At the same time, the roots need to be shielded, which is conducive to faster rooting. For hydroponic lantern flowers, the water quality in the container must be clean to ensure the supply of nutrients.

Precautions for growing lantern flowers in water

1. Change the water

The water of the water-grown lantern flower needs to be changed once a week or so. If it is in the hot summer, the frequency of water changes should be increased. Before changing the water, the water needs to be placed in the sun for a while and then replaced when the water temperature is close to the room temperature.

2. Nutrients

Water-grown lantern flowers are different from plants grown in soil. They cannot absorb enough nutrients from clean water. Therefore, in order to increase the survival rate of the plants, you can add some nutrient solution to help the lantern flowers grow.
