Brazilian wood, also known as Brazilian iron tree and Brazilian millennium wood, is a perennial evergreen plant of the genus Dracaena in the Liliaceae family. It has a regular plant shape and an upright stem; its leaves are broad and shiny, with several golden yellow vertical stripes, curved into an arch, and the leaf edges are wavy and emerald green. It is one of the very few ornamental plants. Method of hydroponics of Brazilian wood1. Choose a container You can try to choose a transparent glass container according to the size of the rubber tree. It must be disinfected before use, and you can use carbendazim or potassium permanganate to disinfect it. 2. Water quality control The most important thing about water and fertilizer is water quality. Well water is the best. If conditions do not permit, river water or rainwater can be used, which are all good choices. In addition, attention should be paid to the replacement of water quality to avoid deterioration of water quality and affecting plant growth. 3. Apply wax The trunk of the perennial large columnar Brazilian wood is sawed into stem segments of different lengths or the branches growing on the trunk are cut off as materials. The upper end of the stem segment used as the material needs to be coated with wax. 4. Hydroponics Cut the Brazilian wood into sections, cut off the slices, dry them for several days, soak the stem cuttings for 1/3 hour, change the water every 3-5 days, and disinfect them with a small amount of carbendazim aqueous solution. Under high temperatures, place it under bright diffuse light. It is best to shade the container with a black plastic bag to promote rooting. 5. Nutrient solution In the early stage, you can add 1/2 of the specified concentration of foliage nutrient solution, add clean water every 7-10 days, and update the nutrient solution every 25-30 days, with a pH of 5.5-6. The initial nutrient liquid level should not be too high, and should immerse 1/2 of the roots. Precautions for hydroponic cultivation of Brazilian wood1. Container To choose a vase with a larger capacity, usually choose a vase made of transparent glass material. 2. Water quality Clean water is enough for hydroponics of Brazilian wood. Mineral water is also a good choice. The water should be changed every three days in the early stage. After a period of growth, the water can be changed every seven days. 3. Nutrients After the hydroponic cultivation is completed, some nutrients should be injected into the water regularly. Generally, acidic nutrients containing nitrate nitrogen should be selected to protect the roots and stems from absorbing nutrients and promote their growth needs. 4. Lighting It is okay to expose the plant to the sun in moderation, and the light is relatively soft. Excessive light will cause sunburn to the stems and leaves, which must be avoided. |
