Where do radishes grow and where are they produced?

Radish growth habits

Radish is an annual herb that prefers an environment with sufficient light and large temperature differences. The suitable temperature for radish seeds to germinate is around 20℃-25℃, the suitable temperature for leaf growth is generally around 15~20℃, and the most suitable temperature for fleshy root expansion is around 13~18℃.

Where do radishes like to grow?

Radish has a very long history in my country and is grown all over the country. Among them, the radish from Weining, Guizhou, the radish from Weifang, and the radish from Zhejiang are nationally renowned producing areas of high-quality radish.

In addition, radish is a semi-hardy root vegetable that generally likes to grow in sandy soil that is loose, fertile, and has good water and fertilizer retention properties.

Radish growing environment and conditions

1. Soil: Most radishes prefer sandy loam with deep soil, loose texture and good fertilizer retention. The most suitable soil pH value is 5.3-7.

2. Nutrition: Radish's main nutritional requirement is potassium, followed by nitrogen and then phosphorus.

3. Light: Radish’s photoperiod effect is that of a long-day plant, so radish needs sufficient light to grow. The more light it gets, the stronger the plant will be.

4. Water: Although radish has deep roots, its leaves are large and water evaporates quickly, so it is very intolerant of drought. Therefore, it has high requirements for water. The best soil moisture is 65% to 80% of the maximum water holding capacity and the air humidity is 80% to 90%.
