Can pine wood chips be used as flower soil?

Pine wood chips can be used to make flower soil, which is a cheap soilless cultivation medium that is light, absorbent and breathable. It contains a lot of nutrients and is very effective for growing flowers. However, it cannot be used directly, otherwise the roots will rot.

How to use pine sawdust to grow flowers

1. Take fresh pine sawdust, put it into a plastic bag, then add an appropriate amount of cake fertilizer. If you have chicken or rabbit manure, it will be even better. Add some water or rice water, cover or seal the bag, and place it in a higher temperature. It will ferment and rot in about 30-60 days until the color turns dark brown.

2. Then place it in a well-ventilated environment to dry until it is half dry, and mix it with an equal amount of soil. This will make it into potting soil for growing flowers and trees, which can make them lush and leafy. Using it as nutrient soil for raising flower seedlings can promote their healthy growth.

3. When repotting flowers and trees, mix 1/3 fine coal slag with pine sawdust and some dry manure to make nutrient soil for potted flowers. The roots of seedlings are fragile when repotting. If you add some sawdust, the roots can easily absorb nutrients in the sawdust and promote vigorous growth of seedlings.

Precautions for growing flowers with pine sawdust

Pine wood sawdust is an organic matter that is difficult to decompose and cannot be used directly as flower soil. It should be fermented first and then mixed into nutrient soil for use. In addition, pine wood sawdust is acidic and suitable for planting flowers and trees that prefer acidic soil, such as white orchid, jasmine, Milan, gardenia, camellia, azalea, Michelia, and jasmine.
