Planting conditions and techniques for durian honey

Introduction of Durian Honey

Durian honey, also known as pointed honey and small jackfruit, is a tropical evergreen fruit tree of the genus Artocarpus in the Moraceae family. It is native to the Malay Peninsula and is now widely distributed in the Malay Peninsula and southern Thailand. There are many varieties of durian honey, but the common ones we see are mainly divided into four varieties: local dry packages, oil packages, Malaysian varieties in Hainan, and red flesh varieties in Vietnam.

Durian honey planting conditions

Planting temperature: The annual average temperature suitable for the growth of durian honey is only between 27 and 31 degrees. When the average temperature is below 20℃, durian honey grows slowly, grows faster at 21-28℃, and reaches the extreme growth rate at 29-30℃. The plant grows fastest in the high temperature season when the monthly average temperature is 29-30℃.

Planting soil: The slope should be below 25°, the soil should have good permeability, organic matter content should be above 1%, and pH value should be 5.3-6.8.

Planting time: After the seedlings and tender shoots mature, orchards with poor irrigation conditions choose rainy or cloudy days for planting, with spring and autumn being the main seasons for planting. In Hainan, China, orchards with good irrigation conditions can be planted all year round.

How to grow durian honey

The planting hole is 80 cm long, 80 cm wide and 60 cm deep. Separate the topsoil from the subsoil when digging the hole, and mix it with organic fertilizers such as straw, human and animal feces and green manure, as well as calcium magnesium phosphate fertilizer or superphosphate when backfilling. Apply 30-40 kg of organic fertilizer, 1-2 kg of phosphate fertilizer and 0.5-1 kg of lime to each hole.

Green manure, straw and lime are placed in the lower layer of the planting hole, human and animal feces and urine, calcium magnesium phosphate fertilizer or superphosphate are placed in the middle layer, and topsoil is placed in the upper layer of the planting hole.

The preparation of the planting hole should be completed one month before planting. When planting, a tree tray with a diameter of about 1 meter should be made around the seedling, and sufficient water should be poured to ensure rooting, and the soil should be covered to keep moisture and inhibit weed growth.
