Poppy seed sowing time

There are usually two sowing times for poppy seeds, namely between March and June and between August and October. The climate and temperature in these two time periods are most suitable for growth. The germination rate after sowing is also the highest, and the seeds can also grow very well, so good maintenance methods are required after sowing.

Poppy seed planting method and steps

1. Seeds: When sowing poppies, you need to choose seeds with fuller grains and remove seeds with diseases and pests. This can increase its germination rate. In addition, it needs to be germinated before sowing and soaked in warm water for 5-6 hours.

2. Soil: Poppy has a relatively good adaptability to soil temperature. However, for the sake of its germination rate, it is best to use loose, fertile soil with good air permeability and drainage. Both garden soil and sandy soil are acceptable. They need to be disinfected before sowing.

3. Sowing: Spread the prepared seeds evenly in the soil. The distance between each seed should not be too close to avoid hindering each other's growth. After sowing, cover with a thin layer of soil and water appropriately to keep the soil moist.

4. Maintenance: After sowing, the poppy seeds will take root and sprout in about 10-15 days. When cultivating the young shoots, they need to be watered every 2-3 days, and the temperature must be kept at around 20 degrees, and there must be sufficient sunlight.
