Vinca roseus seed sowing time

Catharanthus roseus can bloom all year round and is usually sown in spring and autumn. The best sowing time is from March to May in spring, when Catharanthus roseus grows most vigorously. If sown during this period, the germination rate of Catharanthus roseus will be higher and it will also be easier to maintain.

Vinca rosea seed planting method and steps

1. Seed sowing

Purchase good quality, plump, disease- and insect-free vinca seeds in advance. The purchased seeds should be sown promptly and not stored for too long. If they are stored improperly or for a long time, the germination rate will decrease and the result will be counterproductive.

2. Soil selection

When sowing vinca roseus, you need to prepare suitable soil in advance. It has strict requirements on the soil. You should choose sandy soil with loose texture and good permeability. You can choose a mixture of leaf mold, peat and perlite. Such soil is suitable for sowing vinca roseus.

3. Start sowing

The method of sowing Catharanthus roseus is very simple. The soil must be disinfected before sowing. You can use 500-600 times of carbendazim solution to spray the soil for sterilization, then sprinkle the seeds evenly on it, cover it with a layer of fine soil, water it appropriately, keep the soil slightly moist, and it will take root and sprout after 15 days.

4. Seeding management

After sowing Catharanthus roseus, it should be placed in a cool and ventilated place for maintenance. Do not apply fertilizer at this time, just keep the soil moist. After it takes root and sprouts, provide sufficient light, shade it in summer, water it every 3 days, and apply organic fertilizer every 20 days to help the young shoots grow.
