How many crops of sweet corn are planted in a year

Sweet corn can be divided into two types: spring corn and autumn corn . Generally speaking, spring corn is planted in April and May each year, and it will mature and be available on the market in August and September. Autumn corn is planted in July and August each year, and matures around October. You can also choose to plant sweet corn in greenhouses in winter.

Sweet Corn Planting Conditions

Sweet corn is suitable for growing in a warm environment. The seeds can germinate when the soil temperature is 12-15 degrees. The lowest temperature cannot be lower than -3 degrees. It is suitable for planting in spring when the temperature is 12 degrees.

In summer and autumn, planting should be based on the dryness and wetness of the soil. Sweet corn has a high demand for light and requires 7-11 hours of sunshine per day for normal growth.

Sweet corn harvest time

Generally speaking, the best time to harvest super sweet corn is 20-25 days after pollination, while the harvest time for ordinary sweet corn is a few days later, and the harvest period for sweet corn planted in spring in the north should be earlier. The harvest period for sweet corn planted in summer is later, with spring-sown sweet corn harvested in July-August and summer-sown sweet corn harvested in September-October. Secondly, sweet corn must be harvested at the best harvest period and put on the market in time.
